Screening and Identification Process:
2014 UN-Water Annual International Zaragoza Conference. Preparing for World Water Day 2014: Partnerships for improving water and energy access, efficiency and sustainability. 13-16 January 2014.

Objectives:
To minimize the negative impacts to agriculture and farmers brought through the massive unplanned expansion of coal power plant clusters by appropriately managing coal and coal-based thermal power.

Technologies and Techniques Implemented:
Industry partnerships to ensure water and energy efficiency and sustainability; suggests suspending water allocations to coal plants made between 2003-2011 until proper assessment is done and revoke allocations that impact irrigation potential and thereby farmers’ livelihoods; also suggests investing in sustainable energy solutions that will ensure energy security to the country (energy efficiency systems and maximize the use of renewable energy)
